How to become a successful lawyer?

You need not have high academic excellence to be successful in the profession. Of course, that is required to get admission into a law school. After graduation from a law school some other criteria apply for a prosperous practice. Your performance as a lawyer alone will count to get more clientage.
One very important quality you require is intelligence. Even while studying law you must be able to clearly understand what you are learning. While doing the practice you must be able to comprehend, analyze the available information, interpret it and build a case upon it. Then you must be able to express lucidly your point on behalf of your client. Clarity of expression is very important because it not enough that you understand your point yourself. It must be communicated to others clearly. So communication skills must be developed.

A successful lawyer must have a good knowledge of the law and also the ability to use it to the advantage of his client. He must have a good memory and must be able to quote from past cases. Hard work and patience are required for a good lawyer. He must be able to dig out facts. The lawyer must be honest with his clients and other lawyers. That will help develop a good reputation. He is a confidant of his client too. He must have a good library and must acquire knowledge in many fields.
